Homemade Chilli Jam

Chilli Jam

Making your chilli jam at home is easier than you could imagine. You get to choose every ingredient, allowing you to tweak the heat level, sweetness, and texture to your liking. This personal touch makes each batch uniquely yours. The process is simple and requires fresh chillies, sugar, vinegar, and pectin(or sugar).

Starting is as easy as chopping your chillies (seeds in if you like it extra spicy) and then simmering them with sugar and vinegar until the mix thickens into a syrupy consistency. Stir in the pectin towards the end of the cooking process to help the jam set as it cools. The beauty of homemade chilli jam lies in its versatility—whether as a glaze for meats, a vibrant addition to cheese boards, or a zesty twist to your morning toast, the possibilities are boundless.

My homemade version tastes fresher and is free from commercial products’ preservatives and artificial flavours. The vivid, bold flavours of the chillies shine through, and you can adjust the sweetness to suit your palate. Crafting something so delightful from scratch brings immense satisfaction and pride. Once you’ve tasted your homemade chilli jam, you might find the commercial jars no longer make it into your shopping cart.

What To Serve Your Chilli Jam With

No I use my chilli jam with all the usual things. On the side with pork pie, any Indian starters such as onion bhaji or samosas. One thing I did do with my chilli jam was to mix some into mayonnaise and have it with my breaded chicken.
